Sylvain Daval works with the sound medium, and specifically with the relationship between the transmitter, the receiver, and the modulations between these two points. He studied visual art at the National Art School of Bourges, and the Art School of Avignon, as well as music composition at the Conservatory of Music of Bourges. His installations and sound performances have been included in exhibitions in Canada and Europe.

Ouvre Boite presents a closed room installation in which the function of the speakers and the lights are controlled by the opening and closing of the door. Entering and exiting the room triggers the system to engage and disengage. This process creates a relationship between people who are coming and leaving the space, as well as people who decide to reside in the space throughout the cycle.
