Heidi Nagtegaal, I want you to think about Poetry | 2010 | Social Intervention | Canada

Upon entry, we pay admission fees, get a pass, and sit down to enjoy the show. At Signal and Noise 2010, Heidi Nagtegaal will be socially interacting with each guest, asking them to think about certain things, while admitting them into the festival. I Want You To Think About doubles as admission bracelet, specifically stating the words “I Want You To Think About” followed by two blank lines, on which the artist writes down phrases that she wants you to think about. On each night of the festival, a different color of bracelet is used, with a melange of phrases pertaining to the program’s theme written on the bracelet. For each 100 bracelets, there will be a minimum of 5 phrases used, so that during the night, you may find other people wearing similar phrases, forming an springboard for ad hoc discussion opportunities.

Some phrases in I Want You To Think About include: video as a light theif / audio as a wave pool / polyvocal experiences / audio as a form of ghosting / digital memories as public code / tape decks as mediums. Each bracelet is signed and dated on the back by the artist for the 10th anniversary of Signal and Noise Festival.
