Joshua Stevensen has been involved in the music community in western Canada for the past 15 years. He has played and recorded in a number of Vancouver based groups such as Von Bingen, Staked Plain, Capozzi Park, & Pink Mountaintops. He also toured and recorded internationally with Portland based group Jackie-O Motherf*cker from 2002 to 2004. Recently Josh has been touring with NYC Artist Samara Lubelski, performing with Montreal musician Sam Shalabi. Locally Josh has been performing with the all analogue synthesizer group B.C.V.C.O. (British Columbia Voltage Controlled Orchestra) and Von Bingen.
All along the way he always has been doing solo work since the mid 1990′s incorporating experimental and melodic elements. His current work under the guise Magneticring uses vintage synthesizer’s and analogue equipment. Influences ranging from Javanese Gamelan, Obscure Psychedelic Music, Early New Age, and early electronic music.
Joshua also runs Otic Sound Studio in Vancouver recording and producing music. Most recently he finished doing all the recording, audio production & editing of the Some Made Scientists project. “Some Mad Scientists” is a ninety-minute radio play, or musical audio drama, written and produced by Adam Frank, with music by Sam Shalabi.
